  • Description of Research:
    • The process of gasification is to convert any kind of organic solid fuel source, into syngas: carbon monoxide and hydrogen. This is all done without combustion, which is a process that contains an abundance of oxygen. However, the amount of oxygen that is used in the process of gasification is controlled. Steam/feed slurries are usually used in the process of gasification. My research consists of analyzing the by-products of the gasification process of different biomass (such as wood chips, nutshells, switchgrass, etc). By understanding the processes that take place during gasification, this will provide us an understanding for converting biomass for alternative energy applications.
