CCL Researcher Awarded Travel Fellowship for Collaborative Work

CCL lab is pleased to share that one of our researchers, Lauren Creadore, was awarded the prestigious CCNY Chemical Engineering Research Travel Fellowship. This award supported an international collaboration between CCL and the CRECK research group. This partnership allowed for advanced kinetic modeling research in the condensed phase, supporting Creadore’s project in CCL that is focused on investigating combustion processes in solid hydrocarbon fuels, including polymers.

Politecnico di Milano was selected as a collaborator on this project due to the institution’s expertise in polymer chemistry and advanced chemical kinetic modeling, both of which are essential for understanding complex pyrolytic decomposition mechanisms in polymer-based fuel systems. The research aims to model the chemical and physical processes involved in the breakdown of a solid polymer fuel grain into a combustible gas mixture, with a focus on predicting crucial parameters such as ignition delay.

Additionally, Creadore presented preliminary findings and validation data at the Annual Combustion Institute Symposium. This global event drew over 1,000 experts and fostered valuable exchanges, providing significant exposure for CCL as well as CCNY’s Chemical Engineering Department and PhD program.
