Janhvi Trivedi, CCL PhD candidate, visits Stony Brook University

CCL team member, Janhvi Trivedi, spent three months as a visiting student at Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Laboratory in the Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering. During this period, she worked under the guidance of Professor Alexander Orlov, a renowned expert in the development and characterization of novel materials for energy generation, structural applications, and environmental protection. Janhvi focused on investigating the transformations of metals present in waste-to-energy ash. These transformations are interesting because their impact on leachability. By utilizing techniques like FT-IR, XPS, XRD, and Raman at Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Laboratory, Janhvi has gained insight about waste-to-energy ash that will support her thesis work.
