CCL participates in the MatER & Final Sinks 2023 Conference

The biennial meetings of Materials and Energy from Refuse (MatER) and the International Conference on Final Sinks took place in tandem in Piacenza, Italy this year from June 5-7 at the Polytechnic University of Milan’s Piacenza campus. 4 current members of the Combustion and Catalysis Lab attended the meeting, which was MatER’s 6th and the International Conference on Final Sinks 7th since 2013 and 2011, respectively. The group presented 2 talks and 1 poster and served on the scientific committee. Details about the conference events can be found here.

Lauren Creadore, CCL PhD student, provides motivation for the studies she thereafter presented as part of a lecture titled Pathways for waste with a focus on resource recovery and beneficial use. Her talk was part of the Monday afternoon Plenary Session Regulatory framework and Waste management.
Janhvi Trivedi, also a CCL PhD student, describes the experimental set up used in the study she discussed in her talk titled High-temperature Corrosion Evaluation of Heat Exchanger Alloys at Waste-to-Energy Flue Gas Conditions. Her talk was part of the Tuesday morning parallel session Energy recovery and Environmental aspects.
