Kaitlyn Lawrence is a PhD candidate in the Combustion & Catalysis Laboratory, where her research focuses on the beneficial reuse of waste-to-energy ash as a catalyst for air pollution control applications. Her work connects ash valorization, NOx abatement, waste-to-energy systems, sustainable waste management, and circular economy approaches. During her doctoral studies, Kaitlyn completed international research placements at RAPSODEE at École des Mines d’Albi-Carmaux in Albi, France, under the supervision of Dr. Ange Nzihou, and in the Bioenergy & Biofuels Lab at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in Bolzano, Italy, under the supervision of Dr. Marco Baratieri. Originally from Wetumpka, Alabama, Kaitlyn earned her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University, where she also studied sustainability.
